Based on the book, Diamond in the Rough, an autobiography by James Mario Costa, Catch a Falling Star is the true story surrounding the life of a poor Italian immigrant from Calabria who achieves the American Dream after surmounting countless obstacles and adversities along the way. From the sandlots of his small New England hometown, through the rice paddies of the Korean War, to almost getting recruited into the Mafia by the notorious gangster Joey Gallo, his life is chronicled as he battles discrimination due to his Italian heritage, his physical handicap and lack of education - as well as resisting the many temptations of the Mafia. It's the story of how fighting back, hard work, perseverance and finding true love can lead a man to achieving success and happiness in life.
